To transform Abu Dhabi's historic 'Old Souk' into a modern new quarter. The Central Market will be a modern adaptation of the traditional market place and a new civic heart for Abu Dhabi.
In March 2005, the Central Souk was demolished to make way for the regeneration project comprising of markets, shops, offices, apartments and hotels.
The project will avoid the generic feel of the universal shopping mall by uniting global aspirations with Arabian culture. The development consisted of a combination of lower-rise ecologically sensitive levels of retail, roof gardens and three towers, with generous underground parking. It is hoped that this design will unite high end retail and luxury goods with individual courtyards and alleys, together with food markets and craft-based trades specific to the region.
The project is a 37-storey tower, which consists of a five-star deluxe hotel, and a furnished and unfurnished apartment's complex.
The hotel occupies floors 26 to 36 with 120 guestrooms, 34 landmark suites, 1 presidential suite, a swimming pool and a health club. The furnished and unfurnished apartments occupy the 2nd to 22nd floors. The mezzanine accommodates the hotel administration offices, business centre and restaurants.
The complex entrances, offices and banquet hall entrance are all located at the ground floor. The 24th floor is occupied by Italian, Thai and American restaurants. The 1st, 23rd and 25th floor house mechanical installations. The adjacent multi-storey car park consists of 3 floors and provides for 302 car parking spaces. The hotel can cater for up to 700 delegates in a 555m2 state-of-the-art banquet hall, plus 5 technically advanced smart meeting rooms and a fully-equipped business centre. The total cost was $43.5 million and completed in 2001.
The project is a 36 storey tower which consists of a hotel, offices, furnished and unfurnished apartments complex.
The basement accommodates a night club, main kitchen and stores, hotel staff facilities, and electrical and mechanical services. The ground floor encompasses the main entrance, reception / offices, central atrium & lounge, shops, coffee shop and room service, kitchens, entrances to penthouse, offices & apartments, pre-function hall and vestibule of the banquet hall. Available at the first floor are the banquet hall that accommodates up to 900 persons, kitchen, store, bar, speciality restaurants.
Available on the second floor are the business centre, bars, speciality restaurant, kitchens, audio-visual room and lobbies, mechanical rooms and plenum rooms, a banquet hall and a furniture store. The hotel administration and rentable offices are found on the fourth floor. The fifth and seventh floors comprise office floors, bridges across main atrium. At the ninth floor are the swimming pools and pool deck spaces, health club, gymnasium, aerobics, games rooms, stores, roof gardens and toilets. Bridges across the main atrium and glass deck skylight. The third and eighth floors are technical floors. The construction cost of this was $150 million and completed in 2002.
Arkiteknik International, the project architects, designed the hotel based on a remit that combined contemporary design with traditional Arab culture.
The architects have created a world-class hotel combining luxury facilities with innovative design and architecture. Towering majestically by the edge of Dubai's historic creek, the hotel boasts 674 rooms, 14 restaurants and bars, a spa and fitness centre, tennis court and a leisure garden.
Built on a 37 acre site, almost 18,000m³ of concrete and 20,000m² of glazing was used in the construction of one of the largest conference and convention centres in the Middle East.
The construction incorporates the Parallel system for opening the vents, providing the building with the option of using natural ventilation during the cooler months.
As with the other commercial hinges developed by Securistyle, the Parallel Plus is manufactured from high grade 304 austenitic stainless steel. This high-grade material is selected to provide increased strength and guaranteed long-term resistance to corrosion, all fully supported by a 12 year guarantee.
To create a building that contrasts with the surrounding Gangnam Business District of Seoul.
This unusual architectural masterpiece was designed by the Dutch architectural firm, ArchitectenConsort. The GT Tower East has a unique glass facade which features Securistyle's Heavy Duty Parallel Plus Friction Hinges. The skyscraper, situated in Seoul, stands 130 metres tall and is ranked in the top 100 tallest buildings in South Korea.
The building, completed in 2010, comprises of twenty-four levels with a further eight levels underground. The tower is used for a combination of commercial purposes and offices.
The wave shaped office building won the Seoul Architecture Prize of the year 2011, and was nominated and judged by a Korean Jury. The dynamic glass facade adds a dimension of movement when viewing the building from ground level which gives the illusions of surging waves.
With a strong focus on sustainability as part of their key design, Securistyle's Heavy Duty Parallel Plus Friction Hinges help to provide part of the solution for a sustainable environment. Along with all of Securistyle's austenitic products, the Parallel Plus friction hinge comes with a 12 year guarantee.

To create an energy efficient, durable, yet contemporary, office building to house the Ministry of Education.

The architects have modernized the traditional Asian pagoda-style building and created a 24 storey construction featuring multiple trellises, recesses and sun-sharing louvres. The 24-storey tower is connected to a 5 storey podium block which is set within four basements and courtyard.
A key feature of the building is its energy efficiency, the construction is one of the first commercial buildings to adopt an under-floor air-conditioning system that also controls dust within the offices.
The building also boasts a large auditorium seating up to 450 people for corporate presentations, all connected for IT use, and video link technology for meetings and seminars.

To design a brand new university in an inner city area constitutes a unique opportunity. Designing a contemporary university from scratch, we should evolve past a secluded ivy lined vernacular in concept. In this project the veins of the city run through the site, the campus is the city itself: univerCity.
We propose a dynamic and open system to plug into existing structures. The amplification of the precedent and superimposition of new ideas and concepts create that dynamism.
This £120m build-cost project was developed on a fast-track to ensure that the piling was completed ahead of the boring of a new underground line under the buildings. The campus is for 6,000 students and opened on 20 January 2006.
