Securistyle extend product-specific EPD offering

Securistyle has achieved Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) across its Sterling range of commercial window hardware, including the Sterling hinge, Sterling lock and Detachable Restrictors.

Grant Stratford, Technical Director for Securistyle, comments: “Having product-specific EPD’s in place enables us to provide our customers with a choice of specific sustainable hardware. This is of paramount importance for specification on new developments and can help contribute to LEED and BREEAM compliance – something which is becoming a key requirement for new buildings across the globe.

“Sustainability is important to Securistyle and the industry as a whole, so by having each individual product EPD certified reinforces our position as a leader in environmentally sound window hardware solutions.”

Previously achieving EPD documentation for the Parallel hinge range, Securistyle was the first hardware manufacture in the UK to have product-specific EPD’s for its commercial window hardware offering.

A globally recognised certification, EPD’s are acquired through an intricate and complex evaluation process. The declaration provides environmental information on the product and materials within it, as well as the manufacturing processes involved, including the environmental implications of the raw material used, energy efficiency, transportation impact and waste generation.
